Job Title:

Computational Biologist

Job Description:

The Duke-NUS Centre for Computational Biology invites applications from dynamic and experienced computational biologists to join their research team. As a computational biologist, you will be responsible for designing and executing experimental research required by the research component of the project.


You will work closely with the Principal Investigator or his designate to conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experimental research.
  • Write and review research papers, present research outcomes.
  • Develop plans for independent research.
  • Support external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities.
  • Contribute to occasional educational/instructional activities and project management.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate/medical students and research assistants.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics with relevant research experience and training.
  • Knowledge of the scientific background relevant to the research area and laboratory experimental skills.
  • A system-level understanding of human pathology and laboratory expertise in data integration and interpretation.
  • A proven track record in the form of high-impact publications.
  • Demonstrated capability of research independence progressively.
  • Strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills.
