Senior Engineering Manager

This is a rare opportunity to work with a dedicated team of engineers focused on delivering excellence in design, development and operationalization of various engineering productivity products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical requirements and architect production-grade OpenShift clusters on OpenStack.
  • Design and implement control plane, compute nodes, storage integrations, and networking for OpenShift clusters.
  • Adapt typical OpenShift and OpenStack designs to meet security and compliance standards.
  • Provide technical advisory services and design decision rationales to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define and automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, or Red Hat Ansible Tower.

Operational Excellence:

  • Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging pipelines using Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/ELK, and Alertmanager.
  • Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and day-to-day cluster health management.
  • Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and upgrade strategies.

Automation & CI/CD:

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for platform updates, operator deployments, and application rollouts using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Argo CD.
  • Author scripts and operators to automate routine maintenance, scaling, and self-healing tasks.

Security & Compliance:

  • Enforce security best practices including RBAC, network policies, SELinux, and secrets management using Vault and OpenShift Secrets.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement vulnerability scanning, baseline hardening, and compliance audits.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Partner with development, QA, and networking teams to onboard new applications and troubleshoot platform issues.
  • Produce runbooks, run-charts, design documents, and knowledge-base articles.

Required qualifications include 5+ years in Linux system administration (RHEL) and virtualization (KVM/QEMU), with experience in VMware being an added advantage. Additionally, 3+ years of experience deploying and operating OpenShift in production environments is required. Strong understanding of network and storage virtualization is also essential.

Tech skills include infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent, physical, virtual, and container-based networking and storage, monitoring/logging using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stacks, scripting using Bash, Python, or Go, and networking fundamentals including VLANs, SDN, L3 routing, and load balancing.

Soft skills include strong problem-solving and troubleshooting aptitude in complex distributed systems, excellent verbal and written communication, and proactive, self-driven leadership abilities.

Preferred qualifications include Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or OpenStack (RHOS-CL310), familiarity with VMware stacks, experience with GitOps tools like Argo CD, Flux, service mesh like Istio, OpenShift Service Mesh, and serverless frameworks.
