Strategic Leader for Global Youth Development

We are Restless Development, a global non-profit agency supporting the collective power of young leaders to create a better world.
Our team leads change on some of the world's biggest challenges, from gender inequality and youth unemployment to climate justice. We believe in racial justice, feminist leadership, community engagement, and the power of young people.
With close to 40 years of experience in youth-led development, we have built a reputation as a model for best practice in youth-led development, cited by organizations like the World Bank, UNICEF, and USAID.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an ambitious and strategic leader to Chair and Preside over our US Board of Directors. As President and Chair, you will provide leadership to Restless Development USA as it becomes a self-financing and sustainable organization.
You will support and sustain the work of Restless Development, providing governance, leadership, and strategic fundraising support. Your key responsibilities include:
- Being a trusted advisor to our US Senior Manager, developing and implementing our plan of action
- Developing and managing relationships with funders and partners
- Presiding over quarterly board meetings
- Approving our annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions
- Assisting in recruiting new board members
- Planning and facilitating board and committee meetings
- Acting as an ambassador for the organization
In collaboration with our staff and Development Committee, you will generate substantial annual revenue to make Restless Development USA self-funded and sustainable.
You will personally treat Restless Development USA as a top philanthropic priority, reflected in an annual financial gift.
Your expectations as a Board member include participating in virtual quarterly meetings, attending an annual in-person retreat, and being an active member of at least one committee.
RequirementsWe are looking for someone with excellent partnership and external engagement skills, who is creative and energetic, to lead our board as they lead on strategy and partnership work.
You should have a strong network within the trusts & foundations space and/or major donors, and be eager to introduce Restless Development to relevant contacts to significantly grow our donor base.
A natural networker who builds trust and creates strong relationships easily and across sectors, you should have experience supporting similar size agencies in the international development sector with fundraising strategy.
Experience in Africa or South Asia is a plus, but not required. We welcome applications from candidates of all ages, particularly encouraging those 35 and younger to apply.
