Fire Protection Engineer Role Overview

A Fire Protection Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of people and assets by designing, installing, and maintaining fire protection systems.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, with expertise in fire protection systems design, installation, and maintenance. They should be able to lead and supervise teams of engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with local codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Design, install, and commission fire protection systems, including sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, and suppression systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and regulations, including submissions to relevant authorities.
  • Review technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and authorities to resolve design and site issues.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems.
  • Provide technical support during project execution and ensure timely delivery of fire-related works.
  • Prepare reports, method statements, and documentation for submission.
  • Support safety compliance and risk assessments related to fire protection systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in fire services works.
  • Familiarity with local regulations, SCDF Codes of Practice, and FSSD submission procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure to ensure good site progress.
  • Good safety knowledge and attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills and ability to liaise with authorities.
