Counsellor Role

We are seeking a skilled counsellor to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.

The role involves engaging with clients and their significant others, assessing their needs, and developing care plans to address their concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage clients and significant others in a therapeutic manner to understand their needs.
  • Manage and overcome reluctance and resistance to change.
  • Implement and follow up on care/case plans and interventions to determine their suitability in addressing client needs and modify them where necessary.
  • Draft social reports for complex cases to be reviewed by supervisors.
  • Conceptualize and identify appropriate approaches to develop care/case plans for clients.
  • Help clients develop and choose strategies and formulate viable plans.
  • Represent cases in case conferences.
  • Target and reach out to individuals and/or targeted groups who may benefit from group work conducted by organizations/agencies.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, evaluate, and modify therapeutic group work to address issues of target groups.
  • Facilitate high-risk therapeutic group work under supervision.
  • Conduct environmental scans and assess community needs.
  • Design, develop, and implement community-specific development programs (e.g., aging communities in specific neighborhoods).
  • Participate in community development initiatives and provide recommendations for consideration.
Professional Development & Education
  • Engage in learning opportunities (e.g., participate in community-of-practice meetings to develop skills and capabilities).
  • Attend professional development courses to acquire professional knowledge and skills.
  • Supervise interns and/or students on placement (only if offered as Senior).
  • Guide fresh/junior social workers (only if offered as Senior).
Programme Development & Implementation
  • Participate/Implement programs (e.g., strengthening activities appropriate to clients' profiles).
  • Review and refine programs to target client groups or other stakeholders/partners/agencies.
  • Identify service gaps in response to client needs and make recommendations to improve service provision of programs.
Research
  • Participate and support research.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary team research projects.

As a counsellor, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and contribute to the development of programs that address their needs. We are looking for someone with a Master's degree in Counselling from esteemed institutions recognized by the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) of Singapore.
