Job Title: Environmental Sustainability Lead

Job Description:

The Environmental Sustainability Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees while protecting the environment.

This position involves implementing plant process safety updates, managing safety cases, and overseeing environmental health and safety initiatives.

  • Implementing plant process safety updates and managing MHI-related safety cases.
  • Leading safety case-related items according to MHI regulations.
  • Managing and overseeing environmental health and safety initiatives.
  • Approving purchases of consumables and equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and other requirements.
  • Supporting major shutdown activities.
  • Monitoring and managing legal registers as part of monitoring compliance.
  • Arranging and conducting annual assessments (stacks, IHM, noise assessments).
  • Arranging health assessments for employees.
  • Leading EAI and risk assessment programs for all process-related modifications.
  • Developing, reviewing, and updating related procedures/SOPs.
  • Managing communication with internal and external stakeholders on ESH matters.
  • Communicating with authorities for licensing regimes for modification/increase of hazardous substance quantity.
  • Investigating incidents and reporting non-conformances to authorities.
  • Managing and overseeing all ESH training in the company.
  • Arranging external and internal training related to ESH.
  • Responsible for staff development and training to ensure optimal competency.
  • Conducting regular coaching and feedback sessions with employees.
  • Monitoring employee performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in automation, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • A degree in ESH/chemical engineering or equivalent Level C WSH competency certification.
  • Certified in confined space assessor/WAH assessor.
  • Certified in Biz Safe level 2.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, with at least 3 years in a similar capacity.
  • Experience liaising with government authorities.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills and people management.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45000, SS651 & 14000, and the ability to conduct risk assessment and EAI assessments.
  • Ability to lead in accident investigations.
  • Working knowledge of ACTA framework.
  • Planning and organisational skills to plan and organise tasks and deployment of resources.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Passion for WSH requirements.
  • A person with integrity, firm, and assertive when handling issues and employees.
  • Flexible and willing to go the extra mile.
