We are seeking an accomplished English Language and Literature Teacher to join our faculty.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching classes in English Literature and related subjects. This includes delivering lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, as well as collaborating with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional strategies.

  • Teach classes for English Literature and related subjects (36 periods per week)
  • Demonstrate through collaboration, planning and teaching, the IB and MYP/DP framework of concepts within contexts, and inquiry-based learning that is balanced with specific skills of 'how to learn', leading learning towards the IB vision and the aims of individual subject areas and that incorporates interdisciplinary teaching and learning
  • Work and collaborate with Student Support Department to enrich curriculum and student learning
  • To differentiate and target learning to students' needs and aptitude levels
  • Be culturally and linguistically responsive and proactive
Non-teaching Duties

The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake a range of non-teaching duties, including:

  • Understanding and implementing the expectations and policies established by the school
  • Participating in professional duties as necessary outside of the scope of the school day
  • Supervising duties at break/lunch and/or other unstructured times
  • Leading/coaching an after school CCA (co-curricular activity)
  • Assisting in internal sub coverage according to department needs
  • Providing any other reasonable duties delegated by the school
  • Contributing to school continuous improvement by being a member of assigned committee or work group
  • Responsible for homeroom teacher duties
Relationships

The successful candidate will be expected to develop trust and effective relationships with all students in their classes and their parents, as well as establish supportive, collaborative, and positive working relationships with all other members of staff.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in English Literature
  • 2-3 years of working experience in the related field is preferred
  • Curriculum development knowledge is required
  • Possess highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skill
  • IB training preferred
