Quantity Surveyor Job Overview

The role of Quantity Surveyor plays a crucial part in the success of every construction project. As a key member of the project team, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take off quantities from plans and specifications, source sub-contractors and suppliers, and negotiate contracts.
  • Monitor and track change orders, sub-contractor drawing lists, and materials delivery to ensure timely completion and minimize delays.
  • Prepare quantity measurements, costing, and estimations for pre- and post-contract administration, as well as valuations, pricing, and agreement of contract variations.
  • Process claims and monitor project cash flow to prevent financial discrepancies.
  • Oversee project administration and documentation, including preparation of interim valuations, pricing, and agreement of contract variations, updating claim submissions, and preparing final accounts.
  • Evaluate and certify sub-contractor progress payments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Tender for new projects, develop strategies to secure contracts, and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of pre- and post-tender administration.
  • Able to work independently, estimating and preparing tender submissions, while also collaborating with colleagues to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, negotiate effectively, and communicate clearly with clients and team members.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
