Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Conservator (Paintings) to join our team. The successful candidate will be based at the Heritage Conservation Centre, where they will work on the National Collection under the National Heritage Board.

The Conservator (Paintings) will be responsible for carrying out conservation assessment, documentation and treatment on the National Collection according to HCC and NHB procedures. They will also manage exhibition projects, including preventive conservation, and provide supervision and training to junior staff.

In addition, the Conservator (Paintings) will conduct and lead specialized conservation research projects, implement documentation and knowledge management processes, and participate in administrative duties in the paintings section and conservation services department.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Conservation with a specialty in Easel Paintings, and a minimum of 5-8 years of work experience as a full-time staff member. They should have experience in providing advice on complex conservation treatments, supervising staff members, and managing exhibition and research projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Conservation with a specialty in Easel Paintings

  • Experience in providing advice on complex conservation treatments and supervising staff members
  • Ability to lead, coach and impart conservation skills and knowledge effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that facilitate teamwork and ability to work across departments and institutions
