Legal Counsel for Commodities Trade

To support our developing business across the Asia-Pacific region, by providing expert legal advice on contentious, transactional and regulatory matters across our entire portfolio of commercial trading activities.
We are seeking a Senior Business Lawyer to provide additional legal support, as necessary, in connection with ancillary elements of our business, including banking finance, structured trade finance, exchange trading and the transportation, warehousing and storage of commodities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-level legal advice on complex disputes from initial consultation to managing arbitration, civil litigation, mediation and enforcement proceedings.
- Advising on joint venture agreements, share purchase agreements, shareholders' agreements, structured trade finance-related documentation including prepayments, banking facilities, sale and purchase contracts and other related documentation.
- Relate to applicable regulations in respect of new and existing business across the Asia-Pacific region, including in relation to sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption and financial regulation.
- Identify key legal risks and report these to management and stakeholders in a timely and proactive manner.
- A Legal professional qualification with at least 7 years post-qualification experience.
- Qualified in either the UK, Singapore, Australia or New Zealand with credible private practice experience in such jurisdiction.
- Preference for experience with complex high-value contentious matters in the commodity trading context.
- Preference for in-house experience in a trading or equivalent commercial environment, with international and cross-border experience.
- Broad range of legal skills.
- Good IT and organisational skills.
- Excellent command of the English language.
