Job Opportunity: Service Captain

The position of a Service Captain at Sentosa Express is a vital role that requires a professional to operate the train, ensuring a safe and efficient commute for island visitors.

This individual will play a key part in the success of our operations, providing exceptional customer service and adhering to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely arrival and departure of trains, following the duty schedule and train service timetable.
  • Punctuality is crucial when handing/taking over of trains, as well as reporting any alarms or unusual occurrences to the Operations Command Centre (OCC).
  • Deal with monorail-borne defects and resetting procedures according to standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Handle train system, signalling, and equipment fault, including PGD/PSD failure, ETS/ESB operations.
  • Perform intervention procedures during train breakdown, and when required, prepare and conduct train coupling and/or push/pull back to the depot according to approved procedures.
  • Carry out platform duty, ensuring smooth transfer of guests at the platform, making announcements and communicating with guests to keep them updated on the situation during service disruptions or emergencies.
  • Perform driving in manual mode when deployed as per schedule.
  • Conduct visual checks on any external factors impeding into Sentosa Express demarcation zone, tracks/track switches condition, wayside equipment, and platform doors conditions.
  • Check and report train status to OCC on any abnormalities on the train and along monorail track routes.
  • Evaluate the operating situation with OCC on matters affecting train service, assist in detrainment of guests to the nearest station as directed by OCC.
  • Perform emergency rescue operations for a stranded train in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Perform running test/pre-revenue testing after the train's corrective and preventive maintenance works.
  • Open and close Sentosa Express stations, facilitating urgent corrective maintenance works during and after revenue hours.
  • Provide information to Sentosa guests, not limited to transportation, attractions, way-finding information, ongoing island attraction promotions, events, etc.
  • Provide feedback/communication on crowd situation status at stations to OCC and SDC Command Centre(s).
  • Required to perform 2 rotating shift work based on the duty roster, including weekends and Public Holidays.
Qualifications & Work Experience:
  • NITEC or equivalent qualification, competent in accordance with industry standards.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, service-oriented mindset, and pleasant disposition.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and customer-facing environment, multi-task effectively when responding to operation requirements.
