Reinforcing Iron Worker Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for installing reinforcing rods and mesh in concrete forms. Your tasks will include reading blueprints or sketches to determine how to install rebar or mesh, figuring out the quantity, size, and shapes of reinforcing rods, and determining where to place them.

Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints or sketches to determine the installation method for rebar or mesh.
  • Determine the quantity, size, and shape of reinforcing rods needed for a project.
  • Prepare rebar and mesh for installation using metal shears, hacksaws, and torches.
  • Bend or weld rebar together as required.
  • Install cables and position and secure rods, cables, mesh, or rebar in concrete forms.
