Aviation Security Officer Job Description

\

As an Aviation Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of airport passengers and staff. Your primary function will be to perform passenger screening at the airport, rotating through various positions such as Loader, X-Ray Operator, Physical Bag Searcher, Primary Position (Body scanner/Walk through metal detector), Explosive Trace Detector (ETD), and Queue co-ordination.

  • Key Responsibilities:\

The primary function for an Aviation Screening Officer (ASO) is passenger screening at the airport. Officers are rotated through each of the positions as detailed below:

  • Loader\
  • X-Ray Operator\
  • Physical Bag Searcher\
  • Primary Position (Body scanner/Walk through metal detector)\
  • Explosive Trace Detector (ETD)\
\

Officers are often faced with challenging interactions with the public and as such must be prepared to engage in conflict resolution. In addition to their primary duties, ASO's may be directed to secondary duties as outlined later.

  • Secondary duties may include, but are not limited to:\
  • Queue co-ordination\
  • Checked Baggage Screening (CBS) monitoring cargo baggage.\
  • Access control\
  • Airport clearance check\
\

Qualifications and Skills:

\

Fully certified and accredited to perform Aviation Screening duties as per the requirements of an Aviation Screening Officer - Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Aviation).

  • Hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)\
  • Valid Driver's License-Full or Provisional\
  • Own reliable transportation\
