Corporate and Investment Banking provides corporate customers with a full range of commercial banking products and services, including cash management services, current accounts, time deposits, trade finance, working capital finance, term loans and foreign exchange. Metal and Mining team specifically covers corporates engaged in Global metal and mining space, from Upstream mining Companies to midstream smelters as well as major metal trading Houses. The team, in particular, focus on leading player in battery metals/transition metal value chain.

Key Accountabilities

As part of the IBG1 M&M team, the candidate will function both as a Direct Coverage RM and an Industry RM. Key Responsibilities would be to work with DBS Geographies to grow DBS Metal and Mining brand and regional industry wallet revenue by raising awareness of industry developments and its ensuing opportunities and risk, deal flow and deal structures. Jointly target new clients and drive joint account planning for existing portfolio.

As coverage RM:
  • Junior bankers on proficiencies in deal execution including skills in credit analysis and mitigation, financial modelling, due diligence and end-to-end credit process; Senior bankers on deal origination including independence in sourcing deals, preparing pitches and presenting to clients;
  • Ensure proper management of existing portfolio of customers across products and geographies, especially for large accounts with heavy demands on day-to-day operational handling;
  • Ensure regular client engagement at both the working level as well as C-suite meetings. These should be supported by timely pre-meeting briefing notes with relevant talking points and actionable call reports;
  • Ensure quality, accuracy and relevance of pitches to clients by product partners
  • Proactive monitoring and management of accounts, being alert to credit deterioration or improvement, and taking timely action including elevation to senior management and Credit.
  • Ensure timely and accurate credit reviews of the whole portfolio; ensuring accuracy, timeliness review and supported by sufficient depth of analysis and synthesized insights and coherent recommendations.
  • Evaluate financial models with P&L, B/S & cash-flow projections based on sound business and market assumptions with high level of competence.
  • Oversee and craft loan & security documentation and negotiation with high degree of competence.
As Industry RM:
  • Researching and analysing various Industrials sub-segments with a focus to identify common themes across various industry sub-segments and across geographies.
  • Working with product partners in industry-led product development initiatives.
  • Developing business relationship with new and existing key clients alongside with the Global RMs to deepen our connectivity with these regional / global clients; and supporting ad-hoc projects (eg. portfolio reviews and stress tests).
Requirements
  • University degree (preferably in Business, Accountancy, Finance or Economics ) with at least 8 - 10 years of experience in corporate banking relationship management, and/or credit risk review functions.
  • Strong knowledge in relationship management and corporate credit matters, with experience in industry research; good ability to analyse emerging risk trends and to critically assess credit proposals and portfolio quality;
  • Good working knowledge of the following: 1) transaction banking products, including cash management and trade finance solutions; 2) project finance; 3) capital markets and treasury.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and capable of presenting excellent written deliverables
  • Hands on experience and good appreciation of operational risk management.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Adaptable and able to multitask and perform under strict deadlines.
  • Able to deal with and navigate ambiguous situations
  • Proactive, Self-motivated, collaborative, good organization and time management, with a positive can-do attitude.
