NIE Library and Information Services Centre is seeking a dynamic and innovative librarian to drive engagement and outreach. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive communication strategy, driving engagement efforts, and fostering strong relationships with various internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an effective communication plan to promote the library's services, resources and initiatives.
- Create appropriate messaging and implement effective communication strategies to outreach to different audience segments including undergraduates, part-time graduate students, lecturers and faculty members.
- Develop and lead engagement initiatives such as collaborations with academic departments and communication sessions. Conduct library instructional programmes such as briefings and workshops as part of user outreach.
- Use appropriate communication channels including library website, email, newsletter and social media to engage different audiences.
- Design and develop informative and engaging promotional content in various mediums including print, digital, and multimedia.
- Plan, organise, and manage library promotional events and activities.
- Work closely with faculty, student groups, departments and external parties to identify opportunities for collaboration and to integrate library services into the broader academic ecosystem of the institution.
- Monitor and analyse engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust tactics to optimise outreach efforts.
General and liaison duties
- Foster communication between the library and designated academic departments.
- Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating and recommending library resources.
- Provide in-person and virtual information desk services as rostered.
- Contribute to library projects, peer training and staff development.
Requirements
- A University degree and a recognised postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science.
- Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in designing marketing and promotional materials.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
