WTT HEAD OF IT

Reporting to the IT Director, the Head of IT will lead and manage a team of high-calibre developers and IT Operations team, overseeing both in-house and vendor-led development work. This role includes providing ongoing operational and production support for digital products and all supporting systems.

This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, strategic leadership, and operational execution to ensure seamless technology support for both daily operations and major table tennis events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technology Leadership & Strategy

• Work closely with the IT Director to manage and execute technology projects aligned with the IT roadmap.
• Oversee the strategy for both development and support projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Standardize system architecture, reusable codebase development, version control, best practices, and deployment processes.
• Stay up to date with digital development trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.

Product Development & Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and scale products and services while integrating both emerging and legacy technologies.
• Participate in scrum stand-ups, retrospectives, and agile development cycles with product and engineering teams.
• Manage internal teams to plan and procure IT equipment required for events.

Operational & Event IT Management

• Oversee the deployment of digital products and IT infrastructure at table tennis event venues.
• Liaise with vendors to manage changes and deliverables related to event operations.
• Work closely with local organizing committees' network vendors to ensure stable, high-bandwidth network connections that meet SLAs for real-time data flow.
• Coordinate with broadcast and streaming teams to deliver accurate and timely data feeds with required SLAs.

Vendor & Partner Management

• Manage external vendors and partners to provide additional support on projects and capabilities.
• Ensure smooth, timely, and high-quality delivery of technology solutions, both internally and externally.
• Oversee system maintenance, administration, and upgrades.

Requirements

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Technology Project Management.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and system architecture.
• Experience in software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines).
• Familiarity with database management systems (SQL, NoSQL) and API integrations.
• Understanding data security, compliance, and best practices in IT governance.
• Possess at least one Microsoft Azure certification.
• Expertise in networking, firewall configurations, VPNs, load balancing, and bandwidth management.
• Experience working with network vendors and local IT teams to ensure seamless connectivity at event venues.
• Knowledge of live data streaming, multicast networking, and QoS (Quality of Service) for media and broadcast requirements.
• High proficiency and hands on technical knowledge MS Azure, .NET, SQL, Web technologies and Cloud.
• Highly developed leadership skills to plan, organize work, manage, and empower the IT team.
• Sound financial skills, including budgeting /forecasting are essential.
• Prior experience of working in Sports domain and technologies will be beneficial.

Desirable:

• Passion for sport and business.
• Ability to work in multiple languages, with preference for South East Asian Languages.
