Role Overview:
The Site Engineer will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing construction activities on a railway project. This includes track works, civil structures, utilities, and related railway infrastructure. The role demands close monitoring of site progress, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and technical specifications, while liaising with subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision:
- Oversee daily construction activities including track laying, ballast work, sleepers, rail welding, tamping, drainage, and civil structures.
- Ensure works are executed in line with approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Planning & Coordination:
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure timely progress of works.
- Monitor resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) to achieve planned targets.
- Quality Control & Documentation:
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with project quality requirements.
- Prepare and maintain daily site reports, inspection requests, material approvals, and as-built documentation.
- Support testing and commissioning activities.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and project-specific HSE requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks and promotes a safety-first culture at the site.
- Technical Support:
- Assist in resolving technical issues on-site in coordination with the engineering/design team.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5 years of site experience in railway infrastructure projects (track, civil, or systems).
- Knowledge of railway construction methodologies, track geometry, tamping, and welding processes.
- Familiarity with international and local railway standards (AREMA, EN, BS, SS, etc.) is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
