Job Description:

The Food Physics and Materials FPM Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking for one outstanding and highly motivated research fellow to work on food-proteins based nanotechnologies for functional foods and nutraceutical delivery. The research fellow will be advised by Assistant Professor Dr. Jiangtao Zhou from the Department of Food Science and Technology at NUS.

Responsibilities:

The prospective research fellow is expected to develop:

1. Investigating the sustainable food protein for nanostructures.

2. Exploring the mechanism of protein-bioactive interaction to design the nanomaterial structure of functional foods for the nutrition, nutraceuticals and drug delivery.

3. Evaluating the gastrointestinal digestion, absorption efficiency of functional foods.

4. Assessing the health-promoting functionality in cell and animal models.

The responsibilities of the research fellow also encompass facilitating communication and information flow among groups in the field of functional foods, working closely with Postdocs, PhD students, and Research Assistants within the research group and the department. Additionally, the fellow will provide management support during the development of larger research proposals and contribute to initiatives

Qualifications

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications and Skills:

- PhD degree in food science, material science, physics, chemistry, or related fields.

- Research experience on food science, biomaterials, biophysics, polymer chemistry or related fields, demonstrated with a record of publications.

- Research experience with food protein, nutrition delivery, gastrointestinal digestion, plant meat or cultured meat.

- Technical experience on material characterization, cell and animal studies is preferred.

- Independent research ability, as well as the enthusiasm and motivation for research.
