Roles & Responsibilities

Aldersgate Methodist Church is looking for a full-time Children's Ministry staff to assist Pastors and members of the Children's Ministry to teach and nurture spiritual growth and transformation in children's lives. The target groups include children (aged 18 months to 12 years old) from AMC Church School and Aldersgate Praise Centre (APC).

● Vision, Strategy and Church-Wide Collaboration

1. Assist Pastors and Children's Ministry Coordinators to develop and review CM programs.
2. Represent the Children's Ministry when collaborating with the other ministries such as Family Life, Youthphoria, Worship and Music etc.
3. Coordinate with the church office and other ministries when the Children's Ministry organises special programs that may have a church wide impact.
4. Represent the interests of the Children's Ministry and facilitate preparation and planning for the Children's Ministry if the church office and other ministries' special programs have an impact on the Children's Ministry.
5. Recommend and implement ways in which children can play a more active role in the church life.

● Teaching and Nurturing of Children

1. Provide leadership to children by teaching during Children's Ministry sessions, and Christian Education activities at Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) [FMSP] and APC.
2. Work with members of the Children's Ministry to conduct / organise programs, including worship, weekly classes, special events and outreach-focused events.
3. Assist teachers in counselling children including those going through loss or difficult struggles (when required).

● Development of Curriculum for AMC Church School

1. Work closely with the Children's Ministry Coordinators (primary and pre-school levels) to review, select or develop a curriculum for our children.
2. Develop in-house curriculum / lesson plans relevant to our children at the request of the Ministry Coordinators when the need arises.

● Recruitment and Development of Church School Teachers and Assistants

1. Assist the Ministry Coordinators in recruitment of teachers and assistants.
2. Evaluate the suitability of applicants and guide / orientate new volunteers in the Children's Ministry.
3. Equip teachers and assistants with knowledge and skills both from a teaching and spiritual perspective by:

a.Identifying suitable training programs.

b.Organizing or conducting training programs.

c. Evaluating and reviewing, together with the Ministry

Coordinators, the effectiveness of teaching methods and

recommending improvements

● Outreach Activities for FMSP and APC

1. Function as the contact link between APC and AMC's Children's Ministry
2. Assist Pastors and APC in the conduct of Christian Education activities.
3. Function as the link between FMSP and AMC's Children's Ministry.

● Qualifications

1. Diploma/ Degree in Theology/ Divinity or equivalent Childhood qualifications.
2. Min 3-5 years of relevant working experience with children.
3. Warm and caring attitude with a love for children.
4. Ability to lead, dynamic personality and creative thinker.
5. Proficient in MS Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
6. Competent in spoken and written English.
7. Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
9. Strong team player.
