Singapore NTU (Nanyang Technology University- MainOffice-HR) Full time
Reporting to the Dean and Associate Dean (Research), you willplay an active role in coordinating the research, international andbusiness collaboration endeavours at the College, and workingacross the schools to develop position papers, research businessproposals and reports with the aim of fostering collaborations withlocal and overseas partners. In this regard, you with work withSchools to strategize engagement plans, set up meetings to engageplayers for collaborations and subsequently negotiate and structureresearch and academic collaboration and Intellectual Propertyagreements.

Additionally, you will also workclosely with the Schools in the College on various initiatives,programmes and activities in anticipation of national and globalfunding opportunities presented by the dynamic research landscapeand will need to interface and engage collegially with bothinternal and externalstakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Leadstrategic development with externalpartners
  • Serve as point of contractfor major external partners.
  • Lead thediscussion of major research programs with externalpartners.
  • Facilitate partners to interact withpublic agencies (e.g., EDB, NRF,etc).


Execute strategy inexternal engagement anddevelopment
  • Establish College'sstrategy in external engagement anddevelopment.
  • Coordinate college level effortacross different schools to execute thestrategy.
  • Partner the VPR Industry's office toalign college external engagement strategy with NTU strategy andtake advantage of opportunities to engage alongside other parts ofthe university with strategicstakeholders.
  • Promote college's engagementinternally andexternally.


Providestrategic technical support to faculty on researchproposals
  • Provide high level adviceand expertise on the development of researchproposals.
  • Identify and collaborate withinternal and external stakeholders.
  • Developeffective strategies to remedy variances from project plans, andminimize undesirableimpacts.


Performindustry/technology/IP study
  • Conductliterature search and technological scan to identify new andemerging industry and market trends.
  • Collateand synthesize data to analyse the relevance and positioning ofCollege in response to the opportunities in the fundinglandscape.
  • Improve research capabilitiesincluding developing research and analytical tools and practices,and maintaining key data sources, to enable the College to respondquickly and effectively to strategicpriorities.
  • Leverage external contacts andknowledge to identify and apply external bestpractices.


Prepareresearch proposals withfaculty
  • Identify funding opportunitiesand complementary research interests among faculty and support Deanand Assoc Dean (Research) and Assistant Dean (International) toaddress multidisciplinary, interdepartmental funding and academicopportunities.
  • Prepare scope and business casesfor complex projects including cost and resourceimpacts.
  • Lead in developing and preparingmulti-investigator extramural funding proposals, including(business) writing, resource and budget recommendations, andtimeline development.


Actas point of contact with external partners, agencies andcompanies.
  • Cultivate and maintainrelationship with current and prospective academic, governmental,regulatory and industry actors.
  • Work closelywith academic, government agencies and companies to facilitate thedevelopment of research projects or othercollaborations.
  • Serve as the liaison for theformation of interest groups and research teams, bridging externaldemands and opportunities with internalresources.


Lead in otherstrategic College-level proposals andcommunications
  • Lead in other broadCollege's initiatives, proposals and other high-levelcommunications to create an impactful outcome for theschools.


JobRequirement:
  • Obtained PhD inthe field of Science, Technology or Engineering from a recognizeduniversity.
  • At least 10 years of experience inmanagement position, preferably from the tertiary educationindustry or relevant researchindustries.
  • Proven track record of closeworking experience with multiple government agencies and external(including international) partners.
  • Experiencein international research and research management in a highereducation institution or National Research Institution will be anadvantage.
  • Experience in developing scientificreports and research businessproposals.
  • Ability to identify strategic needsand expectations (in terms of skillsets) and to match withstudents'/graduates' skillsets.
  • A good teamplayer with positive work attitude.
  • Goodpresentation, interpersonal and project managementskills.
  • Deductive reasoningskills.
  • Excellent command of written and spokenEnglish.
  • Interest in science and technology,and related development in the externalpartners.
