Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the supply chain, distribution, and warehousing operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products to customers. This role includes managing inventory, transportation, and logistics staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards, optimizing operational processes, and contributing to the development and execution of the logistics strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supply Chain Management:
    • Oversee the end-to-end logistics process, including procurement, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
    • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods.
    • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and recommend improvements as necessary.
    • Plan and forecast supply chain needs to avoid inventory shortages or excess stock.
  2. Warehouse Operations:
    • Manage and optimize warehouse functions, including receiving, storing, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
    • Ensure all warehouse activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Implement efficient warehouse layouts and processes to maximize space utilization and streamline operations.
    • Conduct regular stock checks and inventory audits to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
  3. Transportation & Distribution Management:
    • Oversee transportation operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
    • Optimize delivery routes and methods to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
    • Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) when necessary to meet distribution needs.
    • Monitor and manage the fleet of vehicles, ensuring proper maintenance, compliance with regulations, and safe operations.
  4. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage a team of logistics staff, including warehouse workers, drivers, and logistics coordinators.
    • Provide leadership, training, and development opportunities to team members to ensure high performance.
    • Set clear performance goals and KPIs for logistics teams and monitor their progress.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment through effective communication and team-building initiatives.
  5. Cost Control and Budgeting:
    • Develop and manage the logistics department's budget, ensuring costs remain within established limits.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality or operational efficiency.
    • Track logistics-related expenses and prepare reports on budget performance.
  6. Process Improvement & Optimization:
    • Continuously review logistics processes and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement technology and automation solutions to enhance efficiency in supply chain operations.
    • Analyze logistics performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
    • Lead projects aimed at improving operational processes, reducing lead times, and enhancing service levels.
  7. Customer Service & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Ensure that logistics operations meet customer expectations in terms of delivery times, product quality, and service.
    • Work closely with the customer service and sales teams to resolve any logistics-related issues.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on logistics performance and any issues that could impact customer satisfaction or operational efficiency.
  8. Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, regional, and international laws and regulations.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on logistics performance, including inventory levels, transportation costs, delivery timelines, and any operational issues.
    • Manage customs and import/export documentation when applicable.
  9. Technology & System Management:
    • Utilize logistics software to track and manage inventory, orders, and shipments.
    • Implement systems for real-time tracking of shipments and inventory levels.
    • Stay updated on emerging logistics technologies and trends and integrate them into the operations as necessary.
