Core responsibilities

Fundraising

· Formulate fundraising strategies, based on: current and future donor segmentation; the needs of the segment; and We Care's financial requirements.

· Formulate a strategy and plan to reach out to potential donors who are MNCs, financial institutions, SMEs, charitable trusts, statutory bodies, and government-linked organisations. Review the plan with the Fundraising Committee. Execute on the approved plan and inform the Fundraising Committee of progress.

· Propose fundraising events that are likely to appeal to the various donor segments; formulate the gross fundraising targets and the event costs budget; and discuss the proposal with the Fundraising Committee.

· Following Board's approval to appoint a third-party fundraising event organiser: draw up the scope of services and budget; search and approach suitable candidates; arrange for the candidates to present their proposal to the Fundraising Committee; and assist the Committee to assess the candidates and select one. Upon the appointment of the approved organiser, manage and liaise with them during the event preparation and execution.

· Plan and manage the execution fundraising events approved by the Fundraising Committee. Inform the Fundraising Committee on progress.

· Arrange and convene the meetings of the Fundraising Committee; draft the meeting agendas for approval by the Chairperson; distribute the approved meeting agendas; record and distribute the draft minutes of the meetings for the Chairperson's approval; distribute the approved minutes; and manage and report on the completion of the action items arising from the meetings.

· Research fundraising opportunities and write grant applications to charitable trusts or statutory bodies

· Prepare funding applications and/or reports for internal and external reporting

· Provide to the Fundraising Committee for approval, an annual fundraising expenses and gross donations budget by no later than the end of October of each year, to be included in the annual budget for the following year.

Donor management

· Formulate a strategy and plan to reach out to individual donors and members of the public. Review the plan with the Fundraising Committee. Execute on the approved plan and inform the Fundraising Committee of progress.

· Manage the relationship with existing and past donors; organise and execute donor events, awards, and recognition; and provide donors throughout the year, with information about We Care's activities.

· Co-create, with the We Care Marketing team, collaterals and materials to donors for review by the Fundraising Committee; and distribute them to donors.

· Manage and develop the relationships with Board members with respect to making donations, expanding the donor base and participating in the fundraising events. Work closely with the We Care Marketing team. Ensure that the donor events (such as donor invitations, prizes, event signage and banners) and the communications with donors and donor collateral, are consistent with the Marketing messages and branding.

· Update and manage the database of donors and maintain accurate records of donors.

Donation management

· Monitor and report to the Fundraising Committee on the donations received and expected, and the costs expended.

· Work with the Finance team to ensure full compliance with donation collections, accounting, tax and reporting obligations.

Community engagement

· Develop goals and plans for corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships

· Develop alliances and collaborations with other organizations for CSR, partnership, and networking with the view to develop these organisation into becoming donors

Job specifications

This position requires a candidate with

  • Strong leadership abilities to work with management team to identify fundraising needs and direction aligned with agency's mission and goals
  • ·Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, at researching, networking and devising strategies to increase donor awareness and achieve donation targets.
  • Proven skills at people management, building long-term relationships with potential donors or volunteers and persuasively explaining agency's mission.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage budgets and hit fundraising targets

Successful applicant will be appointed on a one year contract to permanent appointment.
