Initiated by Metta Welfare Association, Metta Café (慈光聚缘轩) was established in 2014 to provide F&B vocational training for Metta School graduates aged 18 and above, with mild intellectual disability and/or autism. Metta Cafe offers opportunities to youths with special needs to learn vocational, work and life skills through our comprehensive training and development programmes, and to create employment opportunities which promote independence and economic integration into society.


As a Cook, the candidate is responsible in the following areas:

1. To maintain good quality of food and healthy meal

2. Maintain cleanliness of the food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, utensils and other kitchen equipment

3. To ensure compliance with hygiene and safety regulations as well as food storage facilities in work area

4. Check quantity and quality of stock received and notify suppliers of deficiencies

5. To supervise & provide vocational training for youths with special needs

6. Any other duties as assign by Management



Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate in Culinary Skills or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience in vegetarian cooking
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must be able to converse in simple English, conversant in bi/multi languages is advantageous
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hardworking, meticulous and responsible.
