Established in 1981, theSchool of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is one of thefounding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University,Singapore. Built on a culture of excellence, the School is renownedfor its high academic standards and research. To support advancedresearch, the School hosts 13 research centres and facilities whichare well-equipped with sophisticated and state-of-the-artequipment. Besides the 13 centres, there are more than 50laboratories, supporting both the teaching and research activitiesin the School.

Responsibilities

Thecandidate is expected to possess an international reputation as atechnological leader in power engineering which includes but is notlimited to Power Systems, Renewable Energy Systems, Smart Grid,Electric Energy Storage Systems, Power Electronics & EnergyConversion, etc. Candidates should have an excellent record ofdistinguished academic and scholarly achievements, along with ademonstrated commitment to the core traditions of excellence andinnovation. Upon the appointment, the job holder is expected toplay a leading role in the area of power engineering for NTU'sSchool of EEE so as to grow new capabilities, nurture innovativeideas and develop strategies to secure external resources for powerengineering projects on a sustainable basis. The job holder isexpected to demonstrate academic and research leadership andcontribute to the nurturing of young researchers in powerengineering and the broader area of Electrical and ElectronicEngineering.

The selected candidate will also beexpected to work closely with NTU's industry partners in developingcapability aligned with the technology needs of the companies inthe area of powerengineering.

Requirements

Candidateswith the following qualifications are encouraged toapply:

  • A relevant PhD from areputable university
  • Extensive research andteaching experience in power engineering (for tenuredappointment)
  • Successful track record ofacademic/research leadership and teambuilding
  • Experience in cross-disciplinaryresearch initiatives andcollaboration
  • Well-developed understanding ofthe priorities, operation and strategies of relevant fundingbodies
  • History of successful training anddevelopment of early career researchers and/or PhDstudents
  • Strong network and ties with renownedinternational entities andorganisations
  • Internationally acclaimed withpresentations such as keynote addresses at flagship conferences andprestigious journalpublications.
