Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applicationsfor Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) / Associate Professor(Tenure-Track / Tenured) in Speech Signal and Natural LanguageProcessing.

This position will be situatedwithin the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).Founded in 1981, EEE stands as one of the pioneering schools atNTU. Rooted in a culture of excellence, EEE is celebrated for itsrigorous academic standards and impactful research. To bolsteradvanced research endeavours, EEE is home to 13 research centresand state-of-the-art facilities, outfitted with cutting-edgeequipment. In addition to these 13 centres, the school boasts over50 laboratories, fostering both teaching and research initiativeswithin its dynamic academic community.

Thesuccessful applicant will be responsible for conductingcutting-edge research in speech signal and natural languageprocessing (NLP), encompassing various areas such as speechrecognition and verification, speech synthesis, speech enhancement,speech emotion and sentiment analysis, speech coding andcompression, computer processing of human languages, theoreticaland empirical analysis of natural language models and applications,NLP enhanced by human computation and interaction, NLP forinformation retrieval in web
and conversational search,and large language model (LLM). In addition to research, thesuccessful candidate will actively participate in teaching andadministrative duties at a level that aligns with the expectationsof a world-class, research-intensiveuniversity.

To facilitate research development,the successful applicant will be allocated dedicated time with areduced teaching and administrative workloadinitially.

Responsibilities
  • Secureresearch funding to establish and expand research initiatives,while delivering high-quality research outcomes in the form ofpublications, invention disclosures, engineering designs, and otherrelevant outputs in the fields of speech signal and naturallanguage processing, as well as other disciplines associated withElectrical and ElectronicEngineering.
  • Contribute to the development andimplementation of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula inElectrical and Electronic Engineering and relatedfields.
  • Provide support, supervision, andmentorship to undergraduate students involved in project work andother academic endeavors, as well as postgraduate research studentsin their research projects and careerdevelopment.
  • Actively participate in the Schoolof Electrical and Electronic Engineering, College of Engineering,and University communities by engaging in activities related toresearch, teaching, enterprise, student experience, and wideningparticipation.


Requirements
Candidateswith the following qualifications are encouraged toapply:
  • A Ph.D. in Electrical &Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevantfield
  • At least four years of researchexperience in speech signal and/or natural languageprocessing
  • Excellent track records inpublishing high-impact papers in top journals andconferences
  • Proven track records and expertisein speech signal and/or natural languageprocessing
  • Preferable to have secured someresearch funding as principalinvestigator
  • Preferable to have proven trackrecords of teaching and mentoring
  • Goodinterpersonal skills
  • A mindset of continualgrowth and academicexcellence
