Roles & Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

This role will be based in the regions prioritized for the Energy Collaborative. This role is based in the region of interest – Malaysia and Singapore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering program milestones, building relationships with relevant policymakers and partners, monitoring progress, and coordinating regular local meetings between policy makers and SEMI EC Sponsor. They will also support advocacy activities in the region via the facilitation of workshops and engagement with media.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

POLICY:

  • Outreach to relevant policymakers and organizations, including national-level renewable energy initiatives in Asia. Regular follow ups on policy recommendations made by the EC and reporting back to EC
  • Create regular follow up with Energy policy makers
  • Create monthly "EC regional WG" and follow up sessions
  • Arrange for periodic CSO project updates
  • Provide quarterly policy update report for the region for sponsors and stakeholders

CORPORATE PROCUREMENT and RENEWABLES SUPPLY:

  • Coordination of the SEMI EC, including regular meetings between renewable energy buyers, sellers, investors and the Founding Sponsors; with the goal to drive towards decarbonization of energy sources for semiconductor ecosystem companies in Asia
  • New technologies: support the deployment of new technologies in the region
  • Facilitation of workshops on corporate procurement barriers and opportunities, anticipating policy changes and policy maker engagement.

EC ECOSYSTEM GROWTH AND MANAGEMENT:

  • Build partnerships and collaborate with strategic partners in each responsible country to stay informed on market developments.
  • Represent SEMI-EC at relevant events, forums, and in the media.
  • Growing EC membership
  • Outreach to corporate buyers, sellers and investors on the SEMI EC
  • Outreach to new technologies such as digital technologies, grid innovations, batteries, carbon free energy

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

· You are a key contributor to building strong, active, and visible Sustainability Advocacy voices that are valuable to SEMI members.

· The projects you support, and coordinate operate efficiently, successfully addressing critical technical challenges into industry-consensus action in a timely fashion.

· Your supervisors can confidently assign you tasks and expect timely, quality output with minimal supervision.

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:

· Staying up-to-date with macroeconomic developments in Asia, and particularly with the energy policy environment in priority countries;

· Understanding corporate procurement barriers and growth drivers, and reflecting these in concise, well-written briefs and reports, as well as presentations in closed and public forums.

· Demonstrable track record of project management, including budgeting, progress monitoring and reporting.

· Liaising with relevant government, industry, and other stakeholders at a variety of organizational levels for communications and coordination purposes and strengthening relationships with EC ecosystem partners.

· Strong network in the renewable energy sector in the region.

· Communicating in excellent spoken and written English, acumen in at least one relevant regional language.

· Adept at using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and similar office software, as well as cloud-based content management systems.

· Demonstrating strong time management skills, and ability to deliver to deadlines.

· Collaboratively engaging with a dynamic team in fast-paced work environment.

· Self-starting initiatives and working independently when required.

FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE OR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:

· The Candidate has 5+ years of professional experience in the field of renewable energy and/or sustainability, with a demonstrable track record of project management, corporate and government stakeholder engagement and communications.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and be able to coordinate activity with a high level of technical detail. The position is customer facing and requires an individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and a desire to provide world-class customer service. A technical background is helpful but not required if the candidate has the desire to learn about technologies and issues related to the Sustainability community.

ABOUT the Energy Collaborative

Aiming to reduce global semiconductor ecosystem carbon emissions, SEMI and the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) have created the Energy Collaborative (EC) to understand and clear roadblocks to the installation of low-carbon energy sources in the Asia-Pacific region. The EC, a collective of industry leaders, will provide a consolidated view of priorities for low-carbon energy in the region.
