We are currently seeking a Senior Java Squad Lead with a strong background in banking technology, who is skilled in leading larger development teams. The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and hands-on experience to guide a team of developers in building high-performance, scalable banking applications.

Job Overview

As a Senior Java Squad Lead, you will be responsible for driving the development and delivery of complex banking software solutions. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of Java developers and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring the team is aligned with business goals and adheres to best practices in software engineering. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the banking and financial services domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a squad of Java developers in building and enhancing enterprise-level banking applications and systems.
  • Architect, design, and implement scalable, high-performance solutions that meet the requirements of the banking industry.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Manage and mentor a team of developers, providing guidance on best practices, code quality, and performance optimizations.
  • Drive agile development practices within the team (Scrum/Kanban), ensuring timely delivery of features and enhancements.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to maintain high code quality and enforce industry best practices.
  • Design and oversee the execution of unit, integration, and system tests to ensure quality, reliability, and security of applications.
  • Engage in architectural and technical decision-making processes, balancing business needs with technological feasibility.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards specific to the banking industry (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • Collaborate with other technical leads and squads to drive continuous improvement and innovation across the organization.
  • Report project status, risks, and milestones to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee performance tuning and scalability improvements of existing banking applications.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and provide updates to ensure alignment between technical and business goals.
Technical Skills
  • Java (8 -12+ years of experience): Advanced knowledge of Java, object-oriented design principles, and development frameworks (Springboot, Hibernate, etc.).
  • Banking & Financial Services Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience working within the banking or financial services domain, with an understanding of core banking systems.
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud-based services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) for deploying and scaling banking applications.
  • Microservices Architecture: Proficiency in developing and deploying microservices-based applications, using tools like Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Database Technologies: Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Security Best Practices: Knowledge of securing financial data, application security, encryption, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • Version Control: Strong experience with Git and version control best practices.
