The world of today is constantlyevolving to keep pace with advances in technology andglobalisation, requiring individuals to adapt and develop newskills to ensure resilience through a culture of lifelong flexiblelearning. Mental flexibility is required in order to adapt tochange, problem-solve creatively in new situations and make themost of opportunities including emerging career opportunities. Thecapacity for cognitive flexibility is thus central to the moderndigital age and our education system needs innovation to ensurecitizens are equipped to develop these future skills. For example,major global challenges, including climate change, renewableenergy, and food security, will require novel and creativeapproaches and solutions.

CLIC researchers aredeveloping a neuroscience-based model of flexible learning,including important social contextual factors, in order to informthe design of practical, real-life interventions for use in schoolsand the workplace. This will ensure that individuals are not onlyprepared for future career success, but also have a good quality oflife and wellbeing, thus supporting a flourishingsociety.

The CLIC program is seeking onefull-time Research Assistant (with potential opportunities forreappointment). The research assistant will support researchactivities focusing on cognitive flexibility and learning, andtraining-related brain changes among adults and adolescents. Giventhe highly inter-disciplinary nature of the project, the researchassistant will be expected to take on opportunities for involvementin research activities related to human neuroimaging, language,infant cognition/learning andpedagogy.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • Supportthe recruitment of approximately young adults (18 - 30 years) fromvocational institutions (e.g. ITE, polytechnics and universities)as well as from the general working population via communitysampling (e.g. community centres, clinics, via social mediaplatforms).
  • Organize the collection ofdatasets
  • Overview and standardize protocols fordata coding, data entry and data analysis for thedatasets
  • Assist with the preparation ofconference presentations journal papers
  • Otheradministrativeduties


JobRequirements:
  • Bachelordegree in Psychology, Neuropsychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or arelated discipline
  • Prior experience inconducting adult cognitive testing and neuroimaging (fMRI,EEG)
  • Prior experience with participantrecruitment processes
  • Prior experience andfamiliarity with data management protocols and ethical regulatoryframeworks in Singapore
  • Experience inperforming general administration tasks for researchprojects
  • Experience in producing researchreports
  • Good statistical knowledge and skills,including familiarity with statistical analysis software such as Rand SPSS
  • Good IT skills(Office®)
  • Strong interpersonal, written andverbal communication skills
  • Excellentorganizational skills and able to work within givendeadlines
  • Excellent time management andorganizational skills.
  • Data managementexperience with REDCap
  • Prior experience withcognitive training and interventionstudies
  • Prior experience with interdisciplinarywork and teams
  • Interest and experience inworking with different age groups (e.g. infants and olderadults)
  • Prior experience working withSingaporean organizations / businesses
  • Priorexperience with academic publication processes andreports
  • Self-directed learner who effectivelypicks up relevant skills asneeded
