Roles & Responsibilities

As the Formulation Director at Performance Labs, you will play a pivotal role in driving our product development initiatives by leading the formulation team. You will be responsible for overseeing the development of new food products, optimizing existing formulations, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and taste. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a forward-thinking approach to contribute to our mission of shaping the future of food.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulation Leadership:

oLead and manage the formulation team, providing guidance

and support in the development of new food products.

oCollaborate cross-functionally with research and development,

quality assurance, and marketing teams to align product

formulations with business objectives.


  • Flavour Development:

oPioneer flavour innovations to outpace competitors.

oSeize, harness, and share emerging flavour technologies and

expertise throughout the Food Research and Development

sector.

oAssist Research and Development & Marketing in matters

related to flavours, including strategy formulation and

execution, flavour selection and communication with suppliers

and other stakeholders.

oCreate industrial food recipes and samples for evaluating

flavours.

oDirect the development of novel solutions tailored to our

unique food matrix.

oStay abreast of current news and trends within the flavour

industry.

  • New Product Development:

oDrive the creation of innovative and market-leading food

products from concept to commercialization.

oUtilize your expertise in food science to design formulations

that meet consumer preferences, nutritional standards, and

regulatory requirements.

  • Quality Assurance:

oImplement and maintain rigorous quality standards for all

formulations, ensuring consistency, safety, and compliance

with industry regulations.

oWork closely with the quality assurance team to conduct

regular evaluations and make data-driven improvements to

formulations.

  • Optimization and Cost Management:

oContinuously evaluate and optimize existing formulations for

improved taste, texture, and cost efficiency.

oCollaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to

manage ingredient costs and identify cost-saving

opportunities.

  • Market Trends and Innovation:

oStay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and

consumer preferences to drive innovation in food product

formulations.

oProactively identify opportunities for differentiation and

competitiveness in the market.


Essential Requirements

  • PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within food product formulation, with a successful track record in bringing products to market.
  • In-depth knowledge of food science, ingredient functionality, and formulation principles.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to food product development.
