Deloitte boasts one of Singapore's largest Indirect Tax and Global Trade Advisory practices, recognized for its proactive, entrepreneurial, successful, and enjoyable approach within the firm.

This role is part of Deloitte's rapidly expanding Global Trade practice, offering specialized guidance and solutions to a wide array of clients, both local and multinational, seeking to expand into various markets from regulatory, trade, and customs perspectives.

As an Associate, you will delve into the regulations and principles shaping international trade, implementing guidelines from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) on market access and border taxation. You will collaborate closely with the team to support companies in overcoming tariff and non-tariff barriers, crafting effective strategies, and mastering the use of Deloitte's exclusive technology and tools in the global trade advisory arena.

Furthermore, given the growing impact of environmental and sustainability standards on global trade, you will collaborate with the ESG team to offer advice on carbon tax, CBAM, and other extended producer responsibility schemes that are increasingly relevant to global supply chains.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will join a dedicated team of customs and international trade experts, delivering guidance and practical support on projects revolving around Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), HS Code classification, customs valuation, transfer pricing, export controls, supply chain management, and applications for trade programs offered by Singapore Customs and related bodies.

Additional responsibilities involve assisting the team in conducting trade compliance assessments related to business reorganizations, M&A transactions, and addressing intricate customs and trade disputes encompassing duties, taxes, and other WTO-related aspects.

Moreover, you will have the chance to engage in the deployment of global trade solutions for clients, encompassing compliance and customs solutions, advisory services, and other forms of assistance through solution design, change management, project oversight, and solution deployment.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates will hold a degree in international trade, law, accounting, finance, economics, or other supply chain-related disciplines.

• Strong enthusiasm for diverse tasks, capable of meeting strict deadlines, and adept at presenting complex ideas clearly and succinctly.

• Proficiency in synthesizing intricate information, conducting critical analysis, and expressing thoughts lucidly.

• Exceptional research and project management abilities, along with strong interpersonal and communication proficiencies.
