  • Reports daily communications and weather observations.
  • Supports cargo packing, loading, and unloading.
  • Handles hazardous cargo identification and handling.
  • Operates equipment, performs weather observations, and fueling tasks.
  • Maintains field sites and equipment for Antarctic conditions.
  • Ensures camp tidiness and environmental protocol adherence.
  • Acts as a first responder providing medical care.
  • Provides support to science teams at field camps.
  • Interacts professionally with various organizations.
  • Provides input to events and completes planning tasks.
  • Operates and maintains mechanical equipment.
  • Ensures safety and educates on Carbon Monoxide issues.
  • Performs tasks without direct supervision.
  • Participates in inventory activities and ship-offload tasks.
  • Performs other required duties.

Required Education, Experience, Certificates, and Licenses:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of experience in expedition outfitting, National Park service, outdoor education, or related fields.
  • Two years of logistics or supply experience.
  • Wilderness First Responder certification.
  • Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 certifications.

Expected Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in mountain/ski shop or outdoor equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work in remote environments and as a team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word.

Preferred:

  • Experience with meteorological, GPS, and communication equipment.
  • Glacial travel and/or basic mountaineering experience.
  • Weather Observation Training.
  • Bachelor's Degree in natural sciences.

Physical and/or Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods.
  • Completion of Medical, Dental, drug screening, and background checks.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items as required.
  • Participation in community programs and possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
