Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Professional Officers Division (POD) at our company houses a skilled team of academic professionals under the Professional Officers scheme. These experts bring valuable industry perspectives to student learning by blending their technical expertise with real-world experience. They play a key role in fostering applied learning and research at SIT, enhancing the curriculum with practical insights.

Professional Officers create engaging learning environments that encourage discovery and innovation. They serve as mentors to students in various activities like laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects, and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Additionally, they collaborate with faculty on industry projects to deliver innovative solutions.

Aside from their educational and research roles, Professional Officers oversee the management of laboratory facilities and resources at SIT. Working alongside Technical Officers, safety professionals, and administrators, they establish policies for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of laboratories.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct lab sessions and practical modules.
  • Guide students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP).
  • Lead or participate in industry innovation projects.
  • Manage labs and equipment to support academic programs and research.
  • Ensure safety protocols are adhered to in labs.

Job Requirements

  • A Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience in Machine Learning or AI, with a strong understanding of industry practices and technological applications. Proficiency in practical ML techniques and frameworks is essential.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like C/C++, Python, and Java, with solid object-oriented programming skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture, coupled with a strong mathematical foundation.
  • Passion for applied research and project development, showcasing problem-solving abilities through software solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to stay updated on industry trends and pursue relevant certifications for professional growth.
