Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing insurance applications to evaluate risk levels based on financial history, credit scores, and claims histories.
  • Analysing historical loss data and claims information to identify patterns and trends for underwriting decisions.
  • Staying updated on market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to adjust underwriting practices.
  • Determining appropriate coverage based on individual risk profiles.
  • Documenting underwriting decisions and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Identifying risks and proposing risk management strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with insurance laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or related field.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in insurance underwriting, including complex risks knowledge.
  3. Strong analytical skills to evaluate risk factors and make informed underwriting decisions.
  4. Experience in risk engineering is beneficial.
  5. Knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and best practices.
  6. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Established insurance broker relationships in Singapore and Asia.
  8. Ability to adapt to market conditions and regulatory changes.
  9. Portfolio management and prioritization abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Comprehensive understanding of property insurance policies and underwriting guidelines.
  11. Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  12. Strong decision-making and judgment skills.
