What you'll do:

  • Provide strategic legal guidance and leadership across all aspects of the business, including corporate governance, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, data privacy, disputes and decentralized finance (DeFi).
  • Support a team of legal, risk and compliance professionals, fostering a collaborative and highperforming culture while overseeing daytoday legal operations and priorities.
  • Partner closely with crossfunctional teams to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks associated with new products, initiatives, and partnerships.
  • Drive the development and implementation of robust compliance programs, ensuring adherence to AML/KYC obligations, data protection laws, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory developments and industry trends in the crypto and blockchain space, providing strategic counsel and thought leadership to inform business decisions.
  • Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of complex agreements, including user agreements, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships, leveraging external resources as needed.
  • Manage and prepare documents for corporate secretarial matters, including board governance, shareholder relations, and regulatory filings, to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and analyze consumer law aspects including terms and conditions, as well as marketing materials for compliance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dispute resolution and adeptly manage external legal counsel in consumer law matters.

What you'll need:

  • A degree from a recognized and accredited institution, admitted to a common law jurisdiction, with a strong academic record and demonstrated expertise in fintech, M&A, regulatory compliance, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of postqualification experience, including significant experience in both leading law firms and inhouse legal departments, preferably within the fintech or blockchain industry.
  • Proven track record of navigating legal complexities in fastpaced, highgrowth environments, with the ability to thrive in ambiguous and rapidly evolving situations.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach to team management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep understanding of the legal and regulatory challenges unique to the Web3 ecosystem, with a passion for driving innovation and pushing boundaries in the decentralized finance space.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic mindset, with the ability to balance legal risks with business objectives and drive impactful outcomes.
