The opportunity: The Director of Actuarial is tasked with planning, directing, and overseeing product pricing initiatives, among other key strategies to support the profit and growth targets for our Group Long Term Disability, Group Short Term Disability, Group Term Life, and Absence business segments.
Responsibilities cover pricing, product development, experience evaluation, and state regulatory compliance. This role entails significant engagement with our carrier partners.
How you will contribute:
- Manage pricing for Group Disability products
- Assess and communicate actuarial performance, keeping carrier partners and senior management informed
- Stay updated on market trends and collaborate with product management for market positioning
- Enhance product management processes to boost efficiency
- Deliver presentations to carrier partners on experience outcomes and market dynamics
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management
What you will bring with you:
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals
- Minimum 5 years of actuarial experience
- FSA certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields
- Active membership in the Society of Actuaries and American Academy of Actuaries
- Thorough knowledge of actuarial and risk management processes
- Strong presentation skills
- Effective leadership to motivate and guide teams
- Ability to build strong relationships with partners and other departments
- Aptitude for creating and communicating strategic direction
