MAIN JOB, SCOPE, OBJECTIVE:
The Medical Interpreter plays a crucial role as a bridge between patients and team members, ensuring smooth clinic operations. They convey medical information between Japanese and English speakers in accordance with clinic policies on patient confidentiality, informed consent, non-discrimination, code of ethics, and standards of practice. Additionally, they support clinic operations by providing reception and dispensing duties efficiently and accurately, aligning with the clinic's service excellence standards.
MEDICAL INTERPRETER DUTIES
- Facilitate the successful delivery of translation services between patients and medical staff.
- Communicate the physician's diagnosis, treatment plan, and advice to patients during examinations.
- Ensure accurate and complete transmission of information, simplifying complex ideas for easy understanding.
- Provide consecutive interpreting, taking notes and maintaining patient-physician confidentiality.
- Act as a cultural and linguistic resource for patients and medical professionals.
CLINIC OPERATION DUTIES
- Manage clinic operations and administration, implementing systems to enhance patient flow and satisfaction.
- Ensure knowledge of clinic services, billing procedures, and insurances to facilitate smooth transactions.
- Monitor compliance with standards and address operational issues promptly.
- Lead team members to achieve organizational goals and maintain quality care standards.
- Handle patient inquiries, complaints, and ensure timely responses to maintain customer service objectives.
- Oversee facility maintenance, cleanliness, and ambience to enhance the clinic's environment.
OTHER BASIC RECEPTION, ADMIN & DISPENSER DUTIES
- Answer calls professionally and prioritize patient needs based on urgency.
- Register patients, handle insurance matters, and prepare claims forms accurately.
- Book appointments, manage medical records, and process payments efficiently.
- Perform banking tasks, prepare reports, and maintain documentation with precision.
- Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and hospitals as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE: (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service or medical settings.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, with strong communication and cultural awareness.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and computer skills.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, IT systems, and healthcare practices.
- Proficient in conflict resolution, problem identification, and translation services.
