The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is an interdisciplinary School that aims to be a world leader in environmental research focusing on environmental challenges in Asia.

ASE integrates earth and environmental life science, ecology, engineering and technology, human ecology, humanities, and the social sciences to address key issues of the environment and sustainability.


The research laboratory on Resilient and Inclusive cities at ASE addresses important challenges related to rapid urbanization and climate change in Asia-Pacific.

It focuses on understanding and modelling the benefits of nature-based solutions - e.g.

urban parks or peri-urban forests, road trees, green roofs - in the region to inform policy and practice, and create more resilient and inclusive cities.

The research uses an interdisciplinary lens, combining geospatial modeling of urban environments and empirical studies of urban practice.


The laboratory is currently looking for a Research Assistant or Research Associate to support the assessment of climate and biodiversity urban plans of Southeast Asian cities and other lab projects.


Key Responsibilities:
Lead the collection and analysis of climate and biodiversity urban plans in a subset of Southeast Asian citiesSupport other lab projects through literature review, data processing, and other analyses

Job Requirements:
Minimally Bachelor's Degree in Landscape & Urban planning, Environmental Sciences or equivalentExperience in urban or regional planning in Southeast AsiaExperience or strong interest in nature-based solutions in urban environmentsGreat attention to detailsExperience with managing large datasets (in Excel or other software) is preferredProficiency with GIS software and geospatial modelling software/ tools is preferred
