Research Assistant/Research Associate/Research Fellow

Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Assistant/ Research Associate/ Research Fellow.
The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.
CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering.
It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.
The research plan of CTP consists of six strategic and interlinked research clusters:Cluster 1:
Climate processes and extremesThis cluster will address key knowledge gaps in the understanding and modelling of the physical processes and impacts of climate change, with specific focus on Singapore and the equatorial SEA region.

Climate and biodiversityThis cluster will assess climate change effects on biodiversity and carbon sequestration in SEA tropical forests and human-modified landscapes.

Climate mitigationThis cluster will develop mineral and vegetation-based carbon dioxide removal.

Cluster 4:
Novel engineering solutions for climate impactsThis cluster will explore engineering solutions to adapt to sea-level rise and climate-constrained water resources.
Led by Prof. Chu Jian, Asst. Prof. Perrine Hamel, and Assoc. Prof. Qin Xiaosheng.Cluster 5.
Climate and finance marketsThis cluster will measure and price climate risk in financial markets, design innovative risk financing solutions to climate change, and quantify economic impact of climate policies.
Led by Prof. Xin Chang, Asst. Prof. Weikai Li, and Assoc. Prof. Wenjun Zhu.Cluster 6. Climate and human healthThis cluster will predict the future impacts of climate change on human health.

Cross Cutting Theme 1:
Sustainable societiesThis theme will leverage climate research in communication, public opinion and psychology, and artistic impressions to shape public attitudes and behaviours.

Manage, analyse, and interpret complex datasets, employing the latest methodologies and tools for accurate and efficient data processing.
Engage in close collaboration with experts across diverse disciplines, integrating various datasets to enhance the understanding on climate transformation.
Develop key case studies that can inform and support policy decisions, emphasizing practical applications of research findings in risk management and mitigation strategies.
Prepare research outputs in formats accessible to policymakers, risk stakeholders, and the broader community, ensuring clear and effective communication of complex scientific information.
Present, publish, and communicate research results in scientific meetings, scholarly journals, and other relevant platforms, contributing to the broader scientific discourse.
Provide guidance and support to junior team members, students, and research assistants, fostering an environment of learning and professional growth.
Job Requirements:
B.Sc. (for Research Assistant position)/M.Sc. (for Research Associate position)/Ph.
D. (for Research Fellow position) in Earth Sciences or another related field.
Post-bachelor/post-doctoral experience is an advantage.
Track record of publishing research relevant to the position in international recognised journals.
Evidence of excellent communication skills.
Evidence of independence in research direction and team spirit.
