THE TEAM

Bain Academy, an Expert Client Delivery team, offers capability building programs to clients and potential clients across all regions. We are a team of passionate Bainies who design and deliver customized, immersive, high impact learning programs. These in-person or live, virtual programs enhance the capabilities of client teams and executives, drive results, and build long-term Bain promoters. We offer 100+ Masterclasses such as Agile Innovation, Strategic Thinking, Effective Decision Making (RAPID), Business Storytelling, NPS, and High Performing Teams (MBTI). We design and deliver multi-day, multi-session Executive Programs to enhance the general manager strategic toolkit and leadership skills. We also offer digital, self-paced learning through eLearning modules and best in class content.

THE ROLE

You will join the Bain Academy team to help design and deliver immersive, interactive, high impact learning programs for clients (in-person and virtual). You will drive development of new Bain Academy IP and product commercialization, and will help establish Bain’s expertise in selling and serving situations. You will develop strong advisory relationships with senior clients, and coach and mentor junior team members. You will serve as a thought leader in creating capability building content for external audiences, often partnering with experts across Bain’s practices to rapidly co-create and test materials. You will serve as the expert to Bain case teams on client capability building requests and design and deliver learning programs for priority clients. You will also provide thought partnership to the Head of Bain Academy on refining the strategy for Bain Academy and driving strategy execution as we scale our offering. The position offers the opportunity to travel (typically 20-25%) which can flex down if there is interest/demand for developing IP and more virtual training offerings.

A key success factor in this role is the application of skills developed in a client-facing role combined with a strong passion for designing and delivering learning programs. You must be able to provide support for the relevant senior team members and work directly with Partners, Associate Partners and Senior Managers from around the world to build awareness of the team and also design and deliver IP for client workshops. You must be ready to step into a client-facing team and seamlessly provide not only subject matter expertise, but also line support in designing and delivering training/learning-related casework. This role applies the traditional consulting skillset required to develop strong content, lead workshops, apply problem solving, and manage diverse relationships/interactions. The individual will supervise and quality control client-ready deliverables from the team and role model effective communication skills, verbal and written, to convey critical insights and implications. The role typically provides more predictable and flexible travel expectations (not as subject to ‘fire drills’).


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Lead Bain Academy events and programs

  • Act as an expert advisor to Client Heads, Office Heads and case teams asking for Bain Academy support. Example responsibilities include:
  1. Effectively share expertise on learning and development topics with Bain and client leadership teams
  2. Facilitate and open up conversations on new areas beyond previous scope with Partners and clients
  3. Drive proposal support by developing selling materials for solution and account teams
  • Serve as capability building / learning expert to case teams on content design and delivery
  • Consistently demonstrate full end to end ownership of complex client training programs and IP efforts for Bain’s solution and capability teams
  • Structure and lead “Train the Trainer” programs, working with senior clients directly as needed on design and delivery
  • Deliver content at the client where there is demand for a global capability building expert or where specific topic expertise is required

Design, develop and maintain Bain Academy assets

  • Develop and commercialize new Bain Academy IP by workingclosely with solution and product leaders and experts to design training programs and immersive exercises for priority Bain products that synthesize the most important learning outcomes for non-Bain audiences. Examples include:
  1. Agile training product suite delivered across the lifecycle of innovation work, including a set of immersive exercises (e.g. the LEGO game)
  2. A ‘Procurement University’, with a set of modules and exercises to support client teams, including SAVE, a procurement board game
  3. A ‘Bain Accelerated Transformation (BAT) in a box’ program, including content to train Bain teams and clients, and an integrated ‘Bouncing Bundles’ exercise
  4. A set of Zero-based budgeting (ZBB)/Zero-based redesign (ZBR) modules, including specific games and exercises for package owners
  5. “Build to Succeed” program – an integrated holistic learning experience customized for solutions
  • Develop capability building IP on high priority topics, at time leading one or more direct reports to drive the work. Examples include:
  1. Develop Bain’s point of view on capability building and trainin
  2. Identify different learning and development organizational models and when to use each
  3. Determine how and when Bain should leverage digital training content
  • Continuously develop deeper expertise on topics and incorporate this into the design of new Bain Academy IP
  • Curate external content as required and collaborate frequently with PPK team
  • Source new and creative learning techniques and interactive exercises

Help drive overall Bain Academy strategy development and execution

  • Refine and implement the strategy for Bain Academy globally with leadership team
  • Develop internal and external marketing materials and liaise with Bain’s global Senior Manager/Associate Partner/ Partner network to drive demand for capability building projects
  • Lead periodic Bain Academy strategy reviews to ensure that Bain capability building is driving maximum impact with our clients
  • Engage with other Expert Client Delivery leaders and affiliate group

Establish strong leadership and foster an ‘extraordinary team’ culture

  • Consistently and enthusiastically welcomed by client heads, managers, and teams
  • Coach and mentor case teams and Bain Academy team on translating insights into action and develop innovative constructs and frameworks tailored to the client/internal situation
  • Demonstrate, ‘Inspire, Teach, and Learn’ when engaging with case teams and Bain Academy team
  • Mentor Bain Academy team members and consulting senior managers and coach affiliates
  • Play a leadership role in BA team recruiting
  • Exert strong positive influence over professional development and learning for entire team

Contribute to priority internal Bain training programs and other projects, based on demand and personal interest

  • While this role is primarily focused on developing our Bain Academy offerings, you may work across multiple programs and projects. Recent examples have included:
  1. Training Working Styles sessions at ACT and NCT
