Residential Education (RE) in the Halls of Residence at NTUplays an integral role in the holistic development of students.Aligned with NTU's education goal of nurturing leaders with the 3Cs: Character, Competence, and Cognitive agility, RE providesopportunities for students to integrate new knowledge andexperiences into their residential halllife.

The RE Unit, housed under the StudentAffairs Office (SAO), oversees and manages the value chain of 23residential halls comprising hall governance involvingfaculty-in-residence, student leaders and residential mentors, aswell as centralised programmes and ground-on initiatives by thehall leadership team.

The Senior AssistantManager serves as educator-facilitator-administrator to enablestudent development and structured co-curricular learning under theRE framework, in alignment with RE, SAO and NTU 2025's strategicgoals.

Keyresponsibilities:

StudentDevelopment
  • Key liaisonperson for 8 - 10 Hall Council (HC) ExCoLeaders.
  • Build student leaders' capacitythrough mentoring and on-the-job guidance, and put in placemechanism for self-responsibility and groupaccountability.
  • Identify and address gaps inleadership development within the HC and implement solutionsthrough active engagement andempowerment.
  • Facilitate effective collaborationbetween HC leaders, Hall Governing Bodies, and RE management toachieve RE objectives.
  • Independently evaluatethe relevance, inclusiveness and effectiveness of HC activities.Encourage initiative that cultivate intercultural competence andinclusiveness under HC.
  • Evaluate potentialrisks of activities, including possible consequences of actions orsolutions in relation to the learning experience of studentparticipants, and adviseaccordingly.


ResidentialExperience
  • Key liaisonperson for 8 - 10 Halls' Faculty-in-Residence (FiR) and ResidentialMentor (RM).
  • Partner with FIR, RM, StudentOrganisations and appointed instructors to deliver RE programmesthat support the development of NTU's 3Cs graduate attributes(Character, Competence and CognitiveAgility).
  • Identify new stakeholders to expandand strengthen the new and existing RE Programmes that are designedwith suitable pedagogical approaches and oriented towards thedevelopment of NTU's 3C graduateattributes.
  • Plan and roll out RE CentralisedProgrammes such as Cooking Workshop, Art Therapy Workshop,Astrophotography workshop and so on.
  • Take Leadin coordinating a series of RE Carnival to bring RE closer to NTUCommunity.


ResidenceWellbeing
  • Responsible forthe annual RE Welcome Webinar, Table Top Exercise on StudentWellbeing cases and RE e-module.
  • Complement thesupport provided by University of Wellbeing Office (UWO) andResidential Student Care Team (RSCT) in the identification of needsand provision of relevant support services forResidents.


Administrationand Finance

Administration
  • Providesecretariat support to Hall Allocation Scheme Committee andcoordination of Hall Presidents' Council Dialogue, Senior FiR(SFiR)/FiR Town Hall, RM Town Hall, SFiR Coffee Sessions, and REExternal Visits.
  • Manage and maintain various RElearning spaces in the Halls ofResidence.
  • Represent RE and provide support inSAO-Wide and Student and Academic Services Department-Wide Projectsuch as Student Management SystemDevelopment.


Finance
  • Assessthe asset request for HC activities and make necessaryrecommendation forpurchase/replacement.
  • Oversees HC and guide HCsto adhere to university financialguidelines.


DataAnalysis
  • Conduct feedback, collatestatistics and analyse reports to evaluate effectiveness oforganised events and proposeimprovements.
  • Provide support in thepreparation of management reports for submission to the universityadministration and the ministries as and whenrequired.


JobRequirements:
  • Bachelor'sdegree in any related field from a recognisedUniversity.
  • At least 6 years of workingexperience which involves considerable interaction withstudents.
  • Good working knowledge onco-curricular development in the highereducation.
  • Experience in the tertiary educationsector will be advantageous.
  • Strong leadershipand mentoring skills, to foster collaboration and active engagementwith Hall Leadership Team.
  • Effectiveinterpersonal, communication and negotiation skills (written andverbal), to establish and maintain positive relationships withdiverse groups.
  • Strong drive to initiate, plan,implement and deliver Residential Experienceinitiatives.
  • Ability to handle unforeseenchallenges and crises with a composed and solution-focusedmindset.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Officeapplication software.
