Structure Inspector | FPSO | 2 Years

· Reviews / Verifies / Approves QA/QC Inspection and Testing reports submitted by fabricator. Witnesses and approves tests conducted by fabricator as applicable. Handle more than one discipline e.g.,Piping & Mechanical.
· To verify site mechanical completion A-ITRs. Monitors site Construction Quality activities and raise Observations or Non-conformities during routine inspection activities.
· Ensure Subcontractor follows approved procedure and applicable industrial standards. Raise observation report / Non-conformance report / punch list when necessary for work not meeting the applicable requirements and assist in resolving them. Follow up with Sub-contractor to submit the Daily inspection reports and traceability records.
· Capable of guiding inspector Level 1 & 2 in at least two disciplines.
Liaises for daily inspection activities with Construction team, Certification Authority, and client inspectors where and when required. Performs, inspection on materials, fabrication, dimension control and welding work at site as per applicable codes and specifications. Monitor structure deformation during surveillance.
Key Accountabilities
Project Resource Planning (I): Provides inputs on structural engineering resources, capabilities and challenges in corporate and business planning and bidding for new projects.
Project Resource Planning (II): Upon winning an award for a project, plans and reviews the structural engineering deliverables that constitute the design and construct of FPSO, ascertains the resources required (including manpower, components, equipment and tools), appoints key members to the project team and initiates project kick-off meetings.
Project Responsibilities (I): Provides support and guidance to all the structural engineering teams in terms of manpower recruitment, deployment and development, management guidance and other resources such as tools and equipment so that the engineers can discharge their responsibilities and meet the expectations of the Projects and clients effectively, timely and efficiently.
Project Responsibilities (II): Performs high-level coordination and monitoring of all structural engineering activities and provides support to projects in terms of resolving technical and interface issues escalated by the Project Leads (between various engineering sections).
Project Responsibilities (III): Supports project management teams in structural engineering to ensure that change management is handled effectively and sensitively.
Department Management (I): Plans, leads and manages human resource in the structural engineering section including sourcing, deployment and retention. Considers and decides on sourcing of third party manpower resources timely and cost-effectively to complement in-house capabilities and resources.
Department Management (II): Oversees, plans and executes succession planning in the structure engineering section to ensure that there is a pipeline of competent and committed candidates to fill various project assignments.
Department Management (III): Deals with people issues in the structure engineering section including performance appraisal, staff development and promotion, staff grievances, performance rewards and staff motivation.
Department Management (IV): Enhances the structure engineering capabilities which encompass developing human capabilities, changing mindsets, raising professional standards and acquiring better tools and equipment in order to improve the Company’s productivity and competitive edge.
Lessons Learn Management: Leads the review and improvement of work systems and processes and introduction of new technology/methods to increase productivity, reduce cost and shorten project delivery time in structural engineering. Leveraging on lessons learnt from past and present projects, develops new standards and formats or improves existing ones. Introduce new technologies, materials and practices suitable to FPSO processes as well as identify ways/methods to achieve / implement cost effective solutions.
Qualifications
Degree in Structure Engineering with relevant working experience as stated below.
- Bachelor: 12 years
- Master: 11 years
General management experience particularly in people management is essential.
Familiarity with structural engineering work/standards and some understanding of other engineering disciplines.
Knowledge of class and regulatory requirements and industry standards for FPSO.
Experience:
· 8-10 years of experience in offshore structural inspection, preferably on FPSO projects.
· Knowledge of structural design principles, analysis methods, and fabrication techniques.
· Experience with quality control procedures and documentation.
· Thorough understanding of relevant offshore structural design codes and standards like API, DNV, ABS, ASME.
· High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail during inspection.
· Strong understanding of offshore safety procedures and regulations.
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
· Good sense of team spirit.
