Job Purpose:

The Commis/Demi Chef de Partie assists in preparing all food products for in-house service or dispatch, ensuring they meet restaurant standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Aid the Demi Chef de Partie with food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Prepare and cook food to high standards for efficient service.
  • Adhere to hygiene and safety requirements.
  • Understand equipment and stock control procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support daily kitchen tasks and food prep.
  • Follow recipes to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Prepare and present high-quality dishes.
  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in menu development.
  • Supervise and train junior staff.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Ensure timely kitchen operations meeting quality standards.
  • Manage stock levels and inventory.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of kitchen experience.
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficient in English (oral and written).
  • Passion for cooking and a desire for a culinary career.
  • Excellent cooking skills and culinary knowledge.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under stress.
  • Effective team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
  • Knowledge of international health guidelines for food safety.
  • Pass all job-related tests.
  • Capability for manual labor and flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate exposure to high temperatures, dust, fumes, and loud noises.
  • Physical activity includes handling objects up to 25 kg and standing or walking for over 6 hours per day.
  • Potential exposure to hazards requiring safety precautions.
