Are you passionate about lab safety, operational excellence, and the future of science-backed innovation? Join National GRIP Labs—a first-of-its-kind facility supporting deep-tech startup founders from across Singapore's universities and research institutes.

We're looking for a Lab Safety Manager to ensure the safe and compliant operation of our new shared chemical and biosafety-level 1/2 (BSL-1/2) laboratories located at the CREATE building. The National GRIP Labs are a vital springboard for early-stage founders working on everything from advanced materials and biochemistry to robotics and clean energy.

The Opportunity

You will be the cornerstone of safety and compliance for Singapore's next generation of science-driven startups. This is a unique opportunity to shape the operations and culture of a national lab incubator, serving over 40 cutting-edge ventures.

  • Oversee safety compliance across wet labs, BSL-1/2 spaces, and workshop areas
  • Establish and enforce SOPs, chemical safety protocols, and emergency response plans
  • Conduct lab safety briefings, inductions, and regular audits
  • Collaborate with startups to support safe experimentation and prototype development
  • Liaise with NUS Office of Safety, Health & Environment and ensure alignment with regulatory standards
  • Coordinate lab inspections, equipment maintenance, and incident reporting
  • Help shape the Innovation Labs' safety-first culture as the space scales
  • 3+ years experience managing safety in chemical, biological, or academic research labs
  • Familiar with Singapore's safety regulations (e.g., SCDF, NEA, MOH)
  • Trained WSHO, Fire Safety Manager, or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Organized, proactive, and ready to work with diverse startup teams
  • Comfortable balancing risk management with founder-friendly support
  • Bonus if you've worked in academic or startup ecosystems before
