Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role is within the MUFG legal team, providing legal advice to support the legal and regulatory needs of our growing global business at MUFG Investor Services.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide legal advisory, regulatory, and documentation support to our core businesses, including fund administration, registrar and transfer agent, investor AML services, banking, custody, trustee, regulatory reporting, registered office, and corporate secretary services.
  2. Offer legal advice and support in relation to the core business, including managing timelines, reviewing and drafting legal documents, negotiating agreements, liaising with internal stakeholders, and seeking sign-offs.
  3. Draft and review various legal documents such as service agreements, intragroup and outsourcing agreements, vendor agreements, and other contractual documents.
  4. Respond to legal queries from operational departments, internal control/support groups, client teams, and senior management.
  5. Advise the business on legal and regulatory matters across key jurisdictions.
  6. Manage or coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
  7. Support and manage projects and new business initiatives.
  8. Maintain and develop legal precedents in response to market and regulatory developments.
  9. Represent legal in internal committees and provide legal insights.

Qualifications

  1. Qualified lawyer with 7-10 years of post-qualification experience, holding a valid practicing certificate in England and Wales or New York.
  2. Experience in an in-house legal role, ideally within a bank, fund manager, or fund service provider.
