Overview

Data Engineer, Global E-Commerce (Governance Service - Risk Control Platform). The Global E-Commerce Risk Control Team aims to build a risk protection system for the platform, identify risk trends, and support rapid development of TikTok's e-commerce business.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers, strategic operations, internal engineering teams, and other partners to understand data requirements and provide data solutions that meet business needs.
  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain data infrastructure tools and technologies to support efficient data processing, storage, and querying.
  • Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large data volumes for analytical queries and reporting.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency with data quality checks, validation processes, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Continuously optimise data pipelines, queries, and processes to improve performance, reduce latency, and enhance scalability.
  • Build and maintain data assets for the risk control business to support engineering and product applications.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & System Analysis, Science (Computer Studies) or related discipline.
  • Experience as a data engineer or in a data-centric role.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and work experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Go, etc.).
  • Solid mastery of data modeling, data warehouse concepts, data integration, and ETL/ELT technologies.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink) and handling data from TB to PB levels.
  • Experience in data governance, e-commerce data, data privacy, and compliance.
  • Experience in cross-border/payment/e-commerce/risk control industries.
