Contract type: 6 months Closing date for applications: 29 October, with interviews to be scheduled the following week Purpose of the Post Imperial Global Singapore (IGS) is Imperial College London’s formal legal entity in Singapore, established to undertake research and innovation projects in collaboration with universities, industry, government, and third-sector partners across Singapore’s vibrant ecosystem. Hosted at the Singapore National Research Foundation’s Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) and located at the National University of Singapore (NUS) UTown Campus, IGS provides the physical and administrative infrastructure that enables Imperial to extend its research activities into Singapore and the broader Southeast Asia region. Imperial Global Singapore is seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Officer to strengthen Imperial College London’s presence and partnerships in Singapore. This role will focus on building visibility for Imperial Global Singapore’s research and innovation activities, supporting engagement with local academic, media, and innovation ecosystems, and developing communications materials that showcase Imperial’s impact in the region. The postholder will support communications initiatives, ecosystem mapping, and event coordination specifically for Singapore — working closely with Imperial Global colleagues, Singapore-based researchers, and partners such as NUS, NTU and A*Star. This role will act as an important touchpoint for Imperial colleagues based in London to ensure a steady flow of information and alignment with central activities and objectives The role combines content creation, event and marketing support, and stakeholder engagement to enhance Imperial’s profile as a science and innovation leader in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Working closely with the Associate Director and Academic Director at Imperial Global Singapore and the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in Imperial’s International Relations Office, the postholder will ensure that communications and engagement activities in Singapore align with Imperial Global’s broader strategy. The position is based full-time in Singapore, at the offices of Imperial Global Singapore for a period of 6 months. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communications and Content Support Copywriting for new sections of the Imperial Global Singapore website, coordinating review and feedback with relevant researchers in coordination with the HQ intern and providing feedback to web team in London. Develop layperson-friendly summaries (“elevator pitches”) for all active research areas in Singapore. Draft and coordinate the Singapore achievements round-up newsletter for distribution and support the management of the subscriber database. Support the translation of technical grant applications into compelling narratives for communications campaigns. Identify key messages, spokespeople, and third-party quote sources for Singapore-led projects, and prepare briefing materials for Imperial’s central communications team. Create presentation decks, short profiles, and promotional materials to support visibility of Imperial Global Singapore activities. Oversee the planning, content creation and impact evaluation of the Imperial Global Singapore Linkedin channel Ecosystem Mapping and Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain a reference list of academics and collaborators linked to Imperial Global Singapore, detailing their expertise, affiliations, and potential speaking topics. Map the broader ecosystem of partners, institutions, and industry stakeholders relevant to Imperial’s strategic focus areas (AI, sustainability, health, and innovation). Strengthen relationships with communications counterparts at local universities and other key partners to coordinate locally significant stories, coverage, and events. Identify and propose speaking opportunities, panel sessions, and regional conferences for Imperial academics and leadership. Support pre- and post-event communications and engagement for Singapore-based activities Work in partnership with the Communications division based in London for engagement in the Media Landscape and Outreach Conduct a review of the external media landscape in Singapore and the wider region to identify top-tier, trade, and specialist outlets relevant to Imperial’s research themes. Identify opportunities for interviews, podcasts, features, or partnerships that extend beyond traditional media channels to reach new and diverse audiences. Liaise with Imperial’s Communications Division to ensure consistent tone, messaging, and branding across all Singapore communications. Coordination and Reporting Prepare concise updates for Imperial Global Singapore leadership on communications outcomes, ecosystem engagement, and media reach. Support coordination between Imperial Global Singapore and International Relations Office, Imperial by sharing relevant Singapore insights and opportunities. Ensure all content and materials align with Imperial’s brand, safeguarding data, reputation, and institutional integrity.
