Group Treasurer

Jadestone Energy is a leading oil and gas development and production company in the Asia Pacific region with a strategy towards acquiring and further developing producing fields.

Role

The Group Treasurer will lead the global treasury function, ensuring optimal liquidity, managing financial risks, and maintaining strong relationships with banking partners. This strategic role supports the company's financial health and operational efficiency across multiple jurisdictions, with a particular focus on foreign exchange risk management, capital structure optimization, and strategic financial planning.

Key Accountabilities

• Bank Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with global, regional, and local banking partners.
  • Lead negotiations for credit facilities, syndicated loans, and banking services.
  • Monitor covenant compliance and manage communication with lenders and rating agencies.
  • Coordinate regular bank meetings and ensure alignment on strategic financial initiatives.
• Liquidity & Cash Management
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts across all business units.
  • Ensure sufficient liquidity to meet operational, capital expenditure, and debt service requirements.
  • Implement and manage centralized and decentralized cash pooling structures.
  • Optimize working capital through effective management of receivables, payables, and inventory financing.
  • Oversee daily cash operations, including funding, payments, and reconciliations.
• Foreign Exchange Risk Management
  • Identify and quantify FX exposures across multiple currencies.
  • Design and execute hedging strategies using derivatives such as forwards, swaps, and options.
  • Monitor FX market developments and geopolitical risks affecting currency volatility.
  • Collaborate with accounting and tax teams to ensure proper hedge accounting and documentation.
  • Report on hedge effectiveness and exposure coverage to senior management.
• Treasury Operations & Controls
  • Oversee treasury systems and ensure integration with ERP platforms.
  • Develop and enforce treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across jurisdictions (e.g., SOX, EMIR, Dodd-Frank).
  • Lead internal and external audits related to treasury activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting of treasury metrics and KPIs.
• Strategic Financial Planning
  • Capital Structure Optimization: Balance cost of capital, financial flexibility, and risk, including debt vs. equity financing and dividend policies.
  • Project Financing & Investment Support: Structure financing for large-scale capital projects, including joint ventures and partnerships, using instruments such as project finance and ECA-backed loans.
  • Scenario Planning & Stress Testing: Conduct stress tests and scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of oil price volatility, interest rate changes, and geopolitical risks.
  • Treasury Input into Corporate Strategy: Provide insights during strategic planning cycles, including M&A evaluations, divestitures, and market entry decisions.
  • Debt Portfolio Management: Manage the company's debt portfolio, including refinancing strategies, maturity profiles, and interest rate risk.
  • ESG & Sustainability Financing: Support sustainability goals through green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and ESG-aligned financing instruments.
  • Digital Transformation: Implement digital tools and analytics to enhance forecasting, decision-making, and treasury visibility.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present treasury insights and forecasts to the CFO, executive committee, and board of directors; contribute to investor and rating agency discussions.
• Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Lead and develop a high-performing treasury team.
  • Act as a key advisor to the CFO and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, tax, legal, operations, and investor relations teams.
  • Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory consultations.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Minimum 10 years of treasury experience, ideally within the oil & gas or energy sector.
• Strong understanding of global banking, FX markets, and liquidity management.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with treasury management systems (e.g., Kyriba, SAP Treasury).
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
