Overview Data Scientist (Mirage) - 1 Year Contract Join a forward-thinking team driving innovation in privacy-enhancing technologies. As a Data Scientist, you’ll contribute to the development of a synthetic data generation platform that supports safe data sharing and analytics across government agencies. This role blends data science, machine learning, and software engineering in a product-focused environment. The Role: Data Scientist (Mirage) Responsibilities Designing and running experiments to evaluate synthetic data generation models (e.g., diffusion models, copula-based approaches). Investigating model limitations across diverse data types and proposing improvements. Collaborating with engineers to build features involving constraints handling, imputation, and preprocessing. Diagnosing and resolving user issues related to model training, output quality, and system integration. Writing clear, user-facing documentation to explain model behavior and privacy metrics. Translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for diverse stakeholders. Working closely with software engineers to integrate ML components into production systems. Participating in Agile development processes, including code reviews and design discussions. What we are looking for We’re seeking a versatile Data Scientist with a strong foundation in machine learning and a passion for building impactful tools. Ideal candidates will have: A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, with 2–3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn. Strong skills in model experimentation, diagnostics, and performance tuning. Ability to read and apply emerging research to real-world problems. Familiarity with backend development (e.g., REST APIs, FastAPI) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred). Experience debugging software issues that affect ML workflows. Comfort with Git, CI/CD, and collaborative coding practices. Bonus: Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies or synthetic data generation. Bonus: Exposure to frontend integration workflows (e.g., React/Next.js).
