Product Manager, Video Moderation, Trust & Safety

Trust & Safety team at TikTok is dedicated to building a safe environment for users to discover and create on TikTok, Lemon8, and other ByteDance products. As a Product Manager on our Trust & Safety team, you will work with engineers, data scientists, operations, product policies, and various internal teams to build safety product features and strategies. You will work on safety features, technical strategies to improve our trust and safety processes, as well as methods to detect and address risky behaviors and actors in the community. You will also work on project management to deliver major Trust and Safety product changes. Travel between our global offices is expected.

As a Product Manager for our video moderation system, you will directly engage in the iteration and optimization of a system that processes hundreds of millions of videos daily, setting industry standards. You will collaborate with R&D and Algorithm teams to enhance our models, work with global operations to refine human moderation strategies, and partner with policy teams to explore platform policy iterations. This role places you at the forefront of industry practices in trust and safety, making your work crucial to the safety of billions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Drive complex projects independently, define the safety product roadmap, set success metrics that inform the success of safety efforts, and partner across the organization to develop action plans.
  • Focus on building effective and scalable features and auto-moderation strategy to provide users with a safe experience.
  • Leverage data analysis methodologies, machine learning technologies, or natural language processing tools to analyze and identify potential risky content (e.g., violence, pornography, fraud) and develop strategies.
  • Work closely with issue experts, policy teams, and cross-functional partners to establish a workflow to analyze, prioritize, and drive cross-functional efforts to achieve success.
  • Develop a robust workflow for cross-team collaboration and manage large-scale product improvement projects to improve community safety.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in product management in consumer-facing mobile or web internet companies; familiar with models and algorithms.
  • Ability to design product solutions based on evidence; proven track record of delivering value-adding products or organizational/process changes that benefit the business.
  • Strong project management and communication skills; able to influence and unite cross-functional teams.
  • Identify, analyze and improve existing business/product processes to optimize performance and user experience.
  • Strong data analysis skills for product design and knowledge of methods for researching and analyzing product designs to meet organizational standards and business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with international partners across different time zones and cultures.
  • Experience in Trust & Safety; basic knowledge of safety by design principles.
  • Understanding of the landscape and policy developments in tech and online safety.
  • Prior experience managing products with safety-related success metrics; experience with human and/or machine-based moderation to remove harmful content.
  • Ability to work in a high-tempo environment and adapt to day-to-day challenges.
  • Resilience and commitment to self-care to manage emotional demands of the role.
