The Infrastructure Operations (Data Center) Team is the backbone of AWS, supporting the business and customers 24/7. We are committed to maintaining the physical infrastructure of AWS and ensuring operational performance in safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost. We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer with experience in critical facilities management who can drive engineering operations, risk management, and vendor collaboration within our AWS Data Center environment.

You will be a part of a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity with efficient cost structures. Responsibilities

• Meet daily hours of operations, on-call requirements, and responsive support during rotations.
• Manage minor and major planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, with understanding of scope, risks, mitigation, and approvals within relevant SLAs.
• On-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
• Prepare reports on data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
• Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for DCEO activities.
• Coordinate with DCO managers (IT), Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security, and other partners to execute projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
• Review and follow documentation relevant to technical support of business and facility operations.
• Implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
• Support operating partners in resolving infrastructure engineering issues.

A day in the life

• Support troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning, and facility management.
• Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to ensure uptime.
• Oversee maintenance and operations on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
• Work schedule changes may include shifts up to 12 hours and on-call rotations depending on site needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma
• 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
• Ability to participate in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience
• Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities with in-depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems
• Experience in management of vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance and upgrades in large-scale critical environments
